Feria Geek 2026, video games, K-pop culture and digital creativity, will converge in Mexico

La cultura geek sigue ganando terreno en México. In July and August 2026, Feria Geek will have activities in Tlaxcala and Mexico City with a program that combines video games, board games, K-pop culture and different creative expressions related to technology.
The project is organized by Mexico’s Ministry of Culture, thru the Digital Culture Center and La Colmena: Grace Quintanilla Creative Technologies Center. Its mission is to create meeting places for youth, families, artists and communities to discover new forms of entertainment and cultural participation.
Video games and community experiences
Destacan en el programa los videojuegos. Además de ser una de las industrias de entretenimiento más rápido en crecimiento, ahora funcionan como espacios de convivencia, competencia y expresión artística.
The fair also includes a video game exhibition in collaboration with Macabro, the International Horror Film Festival of Mexico City. This proposal aims to bring the public closer to titles and experiences related to narrative, visual design and culture of the fantastic genre.
La presencia de Macabro da también pie an enlazar dos medios que cada vez comparten más medios creativos: el cine y los videojuegos. Both use characters, scenography, music and interactive narratives to create experiences that can captivate different audiences.
Juegos de mesa y competencia física
Much of geek culture may take place on digital platforms, but the Geek Fair also has room for board games.
The tournaments organized with the participation of Devir and Mega XP are an opportunity to discover new titles, compete and meet other fans. These activities remind us of the value of the face-to-face experience and show that modern entertainment doesn’t rely solely on a screen.
En México, los juegos de estrategia, cartas y rol han formado comunidades muy activas. Events like this help new players learn the rules and find others with similar interests.
K-pop es parte de la programación
The K-pop culture will be highlighted with activities organized by the Korean Cultural Center. The program includes dance classes based on choreographies by Korean groups and Random Play Dance sessions.
In these dynamics, participants have to recognize different songs and do their choreography. The activity has become popular among fans of the genre, as it combines music, dance, memory and companionship.
The list included K-pop, in response to the influence that South Korean culture has among the new Mexican generations. La música, series, moda y contenido digital han creado comunidades que se juntan en redes sociales pero también en encuentros presenciales.

La Feria Geek no es sólo una exhibición de productos de entretenimiento. Su programación refleja cómo la tecnología puede convertirse en una herramienta para crear, aprender y establecer vínculos entre comunidades.
Video games, movies, board games and dancing are all different languages but they all have the ability to bring people together around shared experiences.
Plus, cultural institutions getting involved also means these events reach people who might not normally show up at trade shows. Así, la cultura geek se entiende como un espacio abierto a la creatividad, la experimentación y el aprendizaje colectivo.
Una cultura que sigue creciendo en México
Words like “geek” were used for a long time to describe interests that were considered minority interests. Video games, anime, comics and K-pop are part of the daily entertainment of millions of people today.
La realización de una nueva edición de la Feria Geek confirma que estas comunidades son cada vez más visibles en México. It also demonstrates that cultural spaces can meet the interests of young audiences without losing their educational and artistic dimension.
